On the heels of February’s full slate of new releases, March’s variety of tentpole and franchise movies looks to put up promising numbers at the domestic box office. Several highly anticipated titles are set to land in theaters—rounding out Q1—and we have a feeling that the term “March Madness” will also pertain to box office results. Here’s a breakdown of the biggest wide releases coming to theaters this March.
Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral (March 1, 2019)
Cast: Tyler Perry, Courtney Burrell, Patrice Lovely, Cassie Davis, Ciera Payton
Director: Tyler Perry
The 10th movie in the Madea-verse, Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral looks to provide some comic relief at the box office this March. Although the funeral doesn’t appear to be for the trash-talking matriarch, Perry has confirmed that this will be Madea’s last “hallelujer.” That’s right, he’ll officially be hanging up the floral dresses and pearls after this one. As far as the plot goes, here’s the jist of it: Madea finds herself coordinating a family funeral during what was supposed to be a family reunion. Hilarity ensues, along with plenty of Madea’s signature bitch slaps.
