March 2019 Movie Releases: Everything Coming to Theaters

On the heels of February’s full slate of new releases, March’s variety of tentpole and franchise movies looks to put up promising numbers at the domestic box office. Several highly anticipated titles are set to land in theaters—rounding out Q1—and we have a feeling that the term “March Madness” will also pertain to box office results. Here’s a breakdown of the biggest wide releases coming to theaters this March.

Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral (March 1, 2019)

The 10^th movie in the Madea-verse, Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral looks to provide some comic relief at the box office this March. Although the funeral doesn’t appear to be for the trash-talking matriarch, Perry has confirmed that this will be Madea’s last “hallelujer.” That’s right, he’ll officially be hanging up the floral dresses and pearls after this one. As far as the plot goes, here’s the jist of it: Madea finds herself coordinating a family funeral during what was supposed to be a family reunion. Hilarity ensues, along with plenty of Madea’s signature bitch slaps.

Captain Marvel (March 8, 2019)

One of the most anticipated movies of the year, Captain Marvel is the first Marvel Studios movie to hit theaters in 2019. It also happens to be the first female-led superhero film from the MCU. Brie Larson stars as the part-human part-Kree warrior whose bevy of superpowers is almost too long to list. The story lets us in on how former Air Force pilot Carol Danvers becomes one of the most powerful heroes in the universe and protects Earth from an inter-galactic war between the Skrulls (bad guys) and Krees (good guys). This is one that everyone’s going to be talking about.

Wonder Park (March 15, 2019)

A young girl discovers a magical theme park in ‘Wonder Park’

Cast: Brianna Denski, Jennifer Garner, Ken Hudson Campbell, Kenan Thompson, Mila Kunis, John Oliver, Ken Jeong

This month’s animated feature Wonder Park follows a young girl named June who has an expansive imagination. When she discovers a run-down yet magical theme park in the woods, she teams up with her new friends to restore the park to its full glory. The dazzling, colorful animation will have kids entranced from the first scene to the end credits.

Five Feet Apart (March 15, 2019)

A teen romance that’s sure to bring out the tears, Five Feet Apart stars Haley Lu Richardson and Cole Sprouse as hospital-ridden cystic fibrosis patients who are forbidden to touch. Despite their lack of physical contact, the two begin to catch feels as they navigate the complications of the disease.

Us (March 22, 2019)

Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated follow-up to the 2017 phenomenon Get Out takes on a decidedly more horror vibe. When uninvited guests pay a visit to a vacationing family of four, the family must fight for their survival while trying to figure out why the intruders possess an eerie resemblance to themselves. The psychological thrills and horror elements will undoubtedly wreak havoc on the nails of movie fans everywhere.

The Informer (March 22, 2019)

Hotel Mumbai (March 29, 2019)
