best picture showcase: film #1 “go?” at the beginning, the rabbits are kept in cages. and by the end, they roam loose in the queen’s room, free, but at what cost? were they better taken care of beforehand, or afterward? this definitely has the tightest script of the year…

“love has limits” for one, the burning of letters signifies regret, and maybe even growth in the direction of selflessness. and for another, it signifies moral decay, the choosing of one path with no way back. this is your life now, you’ve all made your bed and now you…

The script is out of this world, like a tarantino movie set in the 1700’s. The camera work is crazy in the best way possible. And then add to that immaculate acting. It’s simply a masterpiece.
8.3 - Not my favo(u)rite Lanthimos work but still a wildly good time. It’s maybe his most accessible I’ve seen, but still has his unique flourishes all over, especially in how it was shot. Phenomenal acting from all 3 leads, plus top notch prod design, costumes, & screenplay.

One of the most interesting period pieces I’ve ever seen. Elaborate, elegant costumes galore. Secret lesbian affairs. Temper tantrums. Betrayal. Disease. Deceit. What a lovely film.
Still not sure what the plot of this movie is, but has its moments. Also something I wouldn’t usually watch

It’s sad to see the relationships of the lead women unfold as you can feel the frailty & desperation of their circumstances but this in turn leads to fun schemes to watch, making it a unique story in monarchical politics. Paranoid camera shots & darkly comic moments are fun too.
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ I loved it so much it has definitely become a favourite. Emma stone, Rachel Weisz & Olivia Coleman were captivating throughout and I loved their dynamics & found their positions of gender roles fascinating throughout. Will be watching more of Lanthimos for sure !
Incredible. It’s visually stunning (from the sets, cinematography and costumes), masterful performances and a great cast. Really funny and captivating with a great script exploring power dynamics. It’s a case where everything in a film is masterfully executed. Just sublime.

Basically everyone at the theater where I saw this movie had the same reaction. We didn’t know what to think of it but we didn’t like it. It was just kind of stunned silence.
JNJoel NovaYou honestly never leave the atmosphere of this movie until you are dismissed. Definitely the most Award worthy film of the winter. Do not miss it.
SSSinemia SinemiaIt was great until the last 15 mins. The movie was very surpsrising. - I liked it a lot.

Not at all what I was expecting. The acting was excellent. But otherwise, this was just a strange, kind of icky movie. A little too artsy for my tastes.
SAstephen ashfordThree superb performances by the leading ladies! Viscous script that highlights the comedy without dulling the pathos .
GBGerry BollmanThe most depressing, vile movie I’ve seen in many years. The worst since Caligula.

You never get emotionally invested in any character so you never really care what happens to them. AND it’s slow. AND very little happens. AND nobody cares.
PHPhillip HumphreysOlivia Colman gives a powerful, fun and evolving performance. Slowly stealing the show as the film steps and stabs to its conclusion. Ending will leave some audience members craving more definition, but I found it perfectly somber. It is claustrophobic, as intended, so try…
TOTed OTotal waste of time. It ended and those of us that lasted to the end were dumbfounded. I can't believe I wasted a movie day on this.
