Billy and Shazam have different personalities. I really wish someone would point this out to the director. Unwatchable!

There’s a scene in this movie where Zachary Levi is speaking to Helen Mirren’s character Hespera and he says, “I’ve watched all the Fast and Furious movies. And that’s why I know it’s all about family.” Oh really? If so, riddle me this Levi: who plays Magdalene Shaw, the…

Vacates all the charm of the first and replaces it with…a dragon? Some bland villains? Uninspired action? The answer is, all of the above. Shazam! Fury of the Gods makes no attempt at being anything exciting and happily settles with being safe and dull.

The creators of Shazam! Fury of the Gods faced a conceptual dilemma they never quite solved. The point and pleasure of the first Shazam! was watching a dumb teenager figure out how to be a superhero: Testing the limits of his powers, tentatively trying (and often failing)…

Shazam! Fury of the Gods while not reinventing the wheel, manages to capture the excitement and fun missing from a lot of Marvel’s recent endeavors. Picking up where the last film left off, we catch up with the crew doing their superhero thing and it feels fun and and…

The movie was very childish and the jokes were not hitting at all. Plus they had to make sure Skittles got their time in the sun.

Writers dumbed down the main character too much. Unnecessary. The overall story was not interesting.

It’s a mid superhero movie. Jack Dylan Grazer’s character is a bit annoying in some scenes.

The sequel is like watching a good friend come back from a study abroad with an affected accent that you can’t talk them out of.

Billy’s inane babbling gets a little wearing, but the action sequences, featuring dragon-based mayhem, cyclopes and an army of formidable hell unicorns hopped up on candy, are pacy and fun.

The tossed-off charm of the original suffers from bloated sequelitis. Still, star Zachary Levi’s comic-book invitation to shake your sillies out will be hard to resist for underserved family audiences.
