Moviegoers are saying
This Resident Evil reimagining splits audiences down the middle with its bold POV approach and dark comedy blend. While some praise it as a fresh take that captures the video game experience from an NPC's perspective, others feel it abandons the franchise's core identity for generic horror tropes.

Wow. I’ve lived through so many bad Resident Evil films just so experience this one. Sure, Leon and Jill and Barry and Wesker are not in this but they don’t need to be. It captures the feeling of resident evil, telling a story that fits perfectly in its universe. Plus it’s funny. Really funny. I…
Boomer Doomer lovedResident EvilSoooooooooooo crazy good, had a blast watching this in theaters for my birthday!
Todd Howard lovedResident EvilWas worried about how they would use the IP but this movie blew away my expectations and then some. Im glad it was an original story and they didnt copy stuff from the games 1 to 1. The atmosphere and the build ups are done perfectly as well. Capcom give this man another go plz

Justin DaSilva lovedResident EvilYESSSSSSSSSSSS Not even a die hard Resident Evil fan but I loved this 🔥 I’ve only played Resident Evil 2 and seen the Netflix Resident Evil show that came out a little while back. Loved the game, have no clue what others think of it. Enjoyed the show, have no clue what people think of that either…
Christian Lilly lovedResident EvilDude Zach Cregger just doesn’t miss. I don’t know much about resident evil but I do know this movie goes unbelievably hard. I love how tight and focused it is on one regular guys survival from beginning to end. Every sequence is super creative and effective. Austin Abram’s performance makes for a…
- Dragoniteheart490 is "meh" onResident Evil
So much build up for a wack ending don’t care what anyone says I’ve played most of the games and I liked the little things the represented it in the film, but personally of an ending it is weak instantly the whole film becomes sloppy, good cinematic work though
MK lovedResident EvilThe amount of times he said «hello», like «hello, are you dumb?» Also, RUN FOR FCK SAKE! This movie had me STRESSING. Love the jump scares. I’m kinda disappointed how this movie ended. He did all that for nothing

The main character was funny but that’s about it. I knew it would be different but I hoped it would bring something but it didn’t. Disappointed!

great movie!
TJTyeshanae JamesGreat movie, has many references to the video game series, but in the eyes of an NPC character. Lots of jumpscares and quips galore. It's a fun movie to watch and if you have the tendency to overthink, just live in the fiction for a bit. Great movie, highly recommended!
CMCj M.Zach Cregger does it again. We don’t need retelling of Leon, Clair, Jill we needed this a Fresh NEW TAKE that proves and lays groundwork for a possible REUniverse and sequel

This is a Resident Evil movie that exploits the elements of the game that naturally translate to the cinematic form (namely, loud action and squishy violence) but adds a crucial layer that PlayStation, and the Anderson/Jovovich team, never fully considered: comedy.

While the unwieldy ending might get away from him, the tightly controlled and efficient 90 minutes that precede it all are the work of a new master of a horror — one who delivers imaginative, terrifying and hilarious thrills and chills, whether he’s reanimating a dead franchise or dreaming up his own uncanny worlds. It’s just fun to watch him work, and “Resident Evil” might be his most playful — and gooey — film yet.
