Synopsis
Follows a rebellious warrior in 1870s South India during the great famine who confronts a British commissioner while protecting his region and people.
Moviegoers are saying
Ranabaali divides its audience sharply: a 2.6-average rating and a verdict of 'forgettable' from most reviewers, but nearly everyone agrees Vijay Deverakonda gives a standout performance, and the final five minutes earn real praise. The biggest complaints are the rushed, repetitive action, a second half that drags, and a God-figure element that was set up well but never fully explored. Reviewers who loved it, like the one who called the 'Jayamma' chapter the best, were won over by the emotional connection and the folklore-inflected period drama.

box office can decide the fate of ranabali, but vijay deverakonda might've just given the performance of his career. sometimes the movie doesn't have to be perfect for the performance to be unforgettable.
