Synopsis
In Ocean’s 8, an embarrassment of riches isn’t begging to be stolen – it’s doing the stealing. The film follows another branch of the Ocean family tree on another epic, impossible con. Only this time around, Danny’s sister Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) has set her sights on all that glitters at the Met Gala in New York City. And she’s rounded up the perfect crew to pull this high society heist off: Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, and Awkwafina. Admit it: you’d commit a crime to hang out with that gang, too. Directed and co-written by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games), Ocean’s 8 promises celebrity cameos and maybe even a few familiar faces from the Ocean’s Eleven franchise. But the big question is: What about Anna Wintour?!

Just...uninspired. Great cast, but so blandly acted. Bad directing, perhaps? Anyway, the trailers are better than the actual film.
You wanna get you zzzz’s perfect movie!
Metacritic
It all goes down easy enough. And while never pushing the feminist angle too hard, Ocean’s 8 does ultimately become about the ways these women exploit the sexist expectations of men.
Bullock is firm as the preternaturally self-assured Debbie but little more than that; her performance as the con artist is reined in so tightly that she only finally appears to be having some fun when she gets to don a blond updo and German accent on the night of the ball.
Ocean’s 8 is the most satisfying installment in the franchise. The all-star cast is impeccable, the shift in focus yields sharp insights, and the heist itself is wily and enjoyable. What the film lacks in suspense it makes up for in style, and that style has undeniable substance.
