(: super exciting & stylish film, tho obviously repetitive. pretty much a blueprint of the type of lighthearted scary movies i like. i used to hate the idea of slasher comedies until i found ones like this, and now i have many favorites like scary movie, tuck & dale.

Good lord. This was so boring. So hard to sit through; it took me ages to watch it. I didn’t enjoy anything about this movie except for Carter, he was very cute. I wouldn’t watch this ever again. I do not recommend it. Goodbye. Happy Death Day.

I also watched the sequel which isn’t as bad, but is still atrocious. Truly one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. Not at all worth your time

Worst of all, it wastes the meta-idea that a lot of horror films are basically like “Groundhog Day” to an extent, as we watch relatively indistinguishable counselors at Camp Crystal Lake, for example, get killed again and again.

Thankfully never taking itself too seriously, the latest Jason Blum-produced comedy-thriller is happy to carve out its spot as the horror-themed, millennial-focused Groundhog Day, and to have fun doing so. A dynamic lead performance and a willingness to keep things short and snappy also ensure viewers won’t mind venturing into rehash territory.
