Synopsis

The cranky Christmas classic from Dr. Seuss is getting an update, courtesy of the producers behind the Despicable Me franchise. Benedict Cumberbatch voices the big green mean one himself, who lives in self-sufficient solitude up on Mt. Crumpet with his dog Max. From his cave, the Grinch conspires to silence the holiday celebrations of his neighbors down in Who-ville… by dressing up as Santa Claus and stealing their Christmas cheer. Of course, he doesn’t realize that one of those unsuspecting neighbors is a little girl named Cindy-Lou Who, and she’s hatching her own scheme: to personally meet Santa Claus. By, you know, trapping him. It's save to say these schemers are on a collision course. After all, nothing says "Christmas" quite like the intersection of naughty and nice, right?

Much better than I ever expected and the musical score by Danny Elfman was top notch. I though the film makers did a great job of retelling a semi-stale story and they included just enough fresh material to keep it entertaining. Highly recommended for a family with just…

It has a great meaning! Especially with all this negativity in this world. I think everyone should go see this.

The original is way better and at times it felt like the plot was slow to take off and develop. It was cute and had its funny moments.

From time to time you’ll laugh and maybe shed a tear But this isn’t the kind of “Grinch” you’ll want to see each year.

Credit goes to the film’s visual effects folk, who made fur alive and gave texture to smoke. But retreading this story with a Cumberbatch, should send Hollywood bigwigs into the booby hatch.

With its charming character animation and inventive art direction, The Grinch is a vast improvement over Ron Howard’s live-action adaptation of the same story.
