Moviegoers are saying
This animated biblical musical about King David's complete story has audiences split between devoted families praising its faith-based storytelling and critics questioning everything from political implications to AI-generated backgrounds. While families with children consistently rave about the Cape Town studio's stunning animation and Phil Wickham's vocal performance, secular viewers find themselves distracted by debates over historical accuracy and the film's nearly 2-hour runtime.

Man this David seems like a really good and upright guy. I really hope he doesn’t get his friend killed just so he can steal his wife.
DallinWeechDec 18, 2025Everyone saying this is zionist propaganda does not know their history. Biblical Israel is NOT current day Israel. Telling this bible story doesn’t mean pushing the idea of an innocent Israel. This is NOT me being pro genocide though. Free Palestine!
EmmyDec 14, 2025This was a very ambitious remake of Dave and the Giant Pickle.

I’m pretty sure David and Jonathan were gay, but I can’t prove it
Candy Corn Lord Spooky Month EnjoyerDec 27, 2025All the characters looked like they were from clash of clans
soren_mJan 1, 2026Really solid faith-based film. I thought the music, vocal casting and animation were top notch. The film desperately needed 10 minutes cut out, and the themes and plot points felt a little mature for younger audiences, but it was worth a watch and felt like a worthy…

Where’s the part where David had to collect 100 foreskin and he double downed and collected 200? “The heart of a lion, but the spirit of a lamb.”
Whiplashes Family GuyJun 7, 2026huge win for the strict Christain parents community
wyattswanDec 22, 2025I noticed how they conveniently left out the part where David collects 200 philistine foreskins

There’s plenty of brotherly betrayal, double-crossing and other juicy Bible stuff, but it’s let down rather by David’s woefully bland characterisation: pretty to look at, brave, and possessing the psychological depth of a daisy.

David may be a towering figure of biblical lore, but this telling of a chapter of his story is not merely animated, it’s cartoonish.

A well-produced, visually impressive, character-driven fable about the man who would be king.
