A resigned but regretful and direly pessimistic End of Empire recapitulation of IN BRUGES and basically McDonagh's OF MICE AND MEN.

Malkovich and Rockwell riffing McDonagh dialogue together is all you need sometimes

I’ve never cried during a Martin McDonagh film before, but WILD HORSE NINE was the first one to get me there due to the outstanding performances from Sam Rockwell & especially John Malkovich. Some of McDonagh’s most reflective, mature and emotional work on regret,…

Another melancholically splenetic Martin McDonagh jag about a banter-mad pair of murderers who go on a boys trip to purgatory (where they search their souls as they wait for death to find them), the prickly but unconvincing “Wild Horse Nine” strains to translate the…

Many will have much more to say than me but there are just few joys in the world quite like spending a couple of hours with a gang at the very very top of their game

Had a great time with this one. McDonaugh is hilarious. Malkovich is compelling in every scene. I was surprised that in the end, I didn’t feel much tension or unease like I have with some of McDonaugh’s other films. There’s something clean about the redemption arc here, and…

Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine is one of the year’s best films, a joyful and moving achievement complete with a delicious original screenplay, a gorgeous setting that guides the narrative, and a remarkable cast led by the great Sam Rockwell and an Oscar-worthy John…

Was kinda hoping to have more to say about this one but it's quite literally just In Bruges again but they're 70s CIA black ops guys and they travel to Easter Island. I love that movie and how well it deploys its crassly juvenile hangout buddy comedy stuff as a mask for its…

As they bounce around the film’s hollow ideological cavern, the jokes ultimately fail to resonate beyond being amusingly arranged words.

Wild Horse Nine is intelligent, superb filmmaking by all involved.

The main draw, as in all [McDonagh's] work, is the exploration of a central duo’s relationship, which becomes a vehicle for philosophical and theological explorations of darker emotions: regret over failure, guilt over sin, fear of death, and the unwillingness to face the ugliest truths about oneself.
