As a huge fan of the 1962 original starring film icons Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, I must admit that I have always been curious about this universally reviled made-for-TV remake. Did this updated version need to happen? Not really. Does it deserve to be scorned the way…

Absolutely obsessed by how it builds on and subverts the original. It's a sleazier and dirtier version set in a sleazier and dirtier world. The queer sensibility becomes overt exploitation. Old Hollywood glamour becomes L.A. streets flooded with prostitutes. This is how you…

An extremely effective updating of a chilling story, this remake grounds the camp of the original in more realistic moderation while still clearly aware of its largely gay audience. The Redgrave sisters take these characters to totally different places and play off of each…

You could say this was an unnecessary remake, but I really did need to see Vanessa Redgrave dramatically leaving a conversation on a stair chair
