I’m starting to think anything Reichardt touches becomes magic. A sparse and minimalistic movie, but heartbreakingly raw; I found that this struck a much more emotional tone for me than Nomadland. The ending especially hit close to home. Miss you Maya 💔

Wendy and Lucy is like Lassie Come Home directed by Antonioni. What's piercing about it, and also disturbing, is that Reichardt views the renunciation of society with something close to righteous purity -- as a lefty romantic dream.
