A warm, inspiring and completely original story about a boy who loves boobs but can't talk to girls. It's almost as if Shinkai remade his last movie SCENE FOR SCENE with more product placement, like when you repackage the same product can you at least make it less…
WillJan 15, 202145 After the psychic trauma and inter-bodily romance of Your Name, I was excited to see where Makoto Shinkai would take his brand of photorealistic stylization, but it's clear that Weathering with You is determined to uphold certain traditional romantic ideas. This has…
SilentDawnAug 27, 2019Japan is the last country you would expect to take such a casual stance towards water-based natural disasters and yet, here we are with a film that assuages all blame for climate change, argues that it's just a part of the natural cycle and that we should all just continue…

Let me humble you real quick. Your Name was an easy read and if you didn’t see it coming you were blinded. WWY told a cute sob story and didn’t bore me half to death. Sorry not sorry but you can’t compare the two, they’re not the same!
This movie is the ugly version of your name, the story is creative with a trash application, everything doesn’t make sense in this movie, i hate it so much 4/10

The emotion and drama were mostly there. I really felt this until the ending. It just didn’t sit right. It seemed like it lacked direction. Was this supposed to be an allegory for climate change? If so, it’s kind of a bad one. Anyways I thought this was just kind of meh. 5/10
It was so amazingly cute and wholesome. One of the most realistic but also not at all love story’s, and I loved every moment of it. The animation is beautiful and I could watch it for hours on end. They were able to really capture the rain so beautifully. Overall 9/10

Absolutely beautiful story and well done on the animation. Everything was hand drawn frame by frame for two whole years, and you can certainly tell just by watching.
beautiful and gorgeous animation a wonderful and great story and a must see if you loved Your Name
Metacritic
Contemporary outrage could’ve potentially counterpointed the film’s increasingly mawkish tendencies.
Adding it up, the film has the same charming characters and delightfully detailed pastel artwork of its predecessor, but in exchanging Your Name’s sci-fi component for a mythical-magical story, it loses a bit of quota.
