Synopsis

this movie starts us right off with a psychedelic colonoscopy to signify how clenched our asses will be for the next 2 hours and 15 minutes and i call this.... and i cannot stress this enough............... poetic cinema

aesthetically pleasing but very over stimulating/anxiety inducing in a way that didn’t add much. it feels like it was trying to be ~different~ by being paced in *that way* but it just came off as an unpleasant attempt at capturing the life style they think NYers have.

At the end I started thinking it would all come together, only for that twist to make me mad thinking that it could.

Kevin lovedUncut GemsA film of pure stress and anxiety, but in the best way possible. This is definitely one of Adam Sandler’s best performances. The way that he plays Howard is just phenomenal. The whole plot is just incredible and shows why gambling is one of the worst things ever created. So good.

The only term is relentless, and for a lot of viewers Uncut Gems’ third act has been stressful, even traumatic. My response was more one of sheer awe – of the Safdies’ brilliant balancing act, of Sandler’s swirling dance of a performance, and of Howard’s sprint through a minefield.

Sandler is so good, so committed and so watchable that, despite everything — Howard’s irrationality, a rogue’s gallery of unpleasant characters, the foreboding of a bad, bad end — you can’t take your eyes off the screen, which Sandler seldom vacates.
