As a movie for joe nobody it sucks. It’s not a great film and you won’t understand most of it. Watching it as an episode between season 5 and 6 like it’s intended then it’s an okay episode. Widescreen was nice to see. Increased budget cool too. But it was anything special.

The X-Files: Fight the Future feels like a true big-screen adventure for Mulder and Scully. A gripping mix of mystery, horror, and conspiracy, it tells a solid, self-contained story while expanding the show’s mythology. Suspenseful, atmospheric, and a real treat for fans.

Essential viewing between seasons 5 & 6 of the show. I had always heard that this wasn’t good, but in the annals of x-files lore, this is a pivotal story with some major series plot points. Interesting to see the show take on a movie tone too.

The X-Files movie is really just a two-hour teaser for the series's sixth season. And little else. You will feel exactly like Mulder when he says, How many times have we been right here before, Scully? So close to the truth?

Dark, funny, paranoid, arbitrary, humming with tamped-down eroticism and in love with all things weird: That's the good news.

With its shrewd mixture of paranoia and the paranormal, the way its elaborate mythology combines enigmatic phenomena with potent cabals intent on running the world, The X-Files experience resembles Twin Peaks crossed with The Twilight Zone.
