KarstenDec 21, 202210 'Simple Jack' for Aronofsky heads, or maybe his Norbit. Darren's latest case in miserabilism is an a24-produced theatrical adaptation that functions as both a saccharine weepie for people who use the #brendanissance hashtag and those who wish that 'my 600 pound life'…

freya.Dec 17, 2022I do think it’s a little messy thematically and some moments feel kinda silly. But the performances are phenom and I find these equally endearing and despicable characters highly watchable. I also like the visual approach a lot. The murky, dim interior that we’re confined…

Out of all the movies I’ve seen I’ve never had one hit me like that before. I could be overdoing it when I say that but this is exactly the type of film I’ve been looking for and I’ll definitely be thinking about it for awhile
Ani N. lovedThe WhaleEverything was thoughtful about this movie. From the choice of film to the lighting to the dialogue to the characters, just layers upon layers to make this a masterpiece. Pay attention to everything and such a simple story will deliver a multitude of meaning.
Kenan Starnes dislikedThe WhaleIf you are a Christian, this movie may not be for you. It seemed like the entire premise of this movie was to bash Christianity. Now, if you aren’t a Christian and want to watch phenomenal performances by amazing actors, this is the one for you!

Justin Owens dislikedThe Whale800 lb zesty man cringe
waskuyecaozu dislikedThe Whaleoffensive trauma porn made by and for thin people about how awful they imagine being fat to be. does not reflect the realities of being over 500 lbs and treats the main character not with empathy but with a sort of cruel pity

Asal lovedThe WhaleSuch a great movie. It was raw with emotion and the story was beautifully told. It didn’t feel like you were watching a movie, it felt so personal and real. if you watch in theaters make sure to take some tissues.
Ginevra Lodolo is "meh" onThe WhaleI have contrasting feelings… the writers make you feel pity for Charlie but actually Charlie you’re miserable and incredibly selfish I don’t like you. I also didn’t quite understood why they put these hints of other massages like religious faith and in general Thomas character.
Jack Horcher dislikedThe WhaleNot a great movie. Wasted several hours on an airplane watching this. His relationship with his daughter makes no sense, and his care taker feeds him nothing but garbage while he’s having heart failure? All around not great. 2/10

JGJay GarciaBrendan Fraser better win Best Actor at every awards show or we know it’s all rigged. The Whale is a a well written, well directed indie film that manages to tell you the end and still deliver a tear factory. The ensemble cast has some of the best chemistry I’ve seen in a…

Fraser often brings a warmth to Charlie that the film desperately needs, but his positivity is only an ember in a fire dying in the pouring rain.

Here, in short, is a self-regarding drama of self-loathing: hardly the most appetizing prospect. If it proves nonetheless to be stirringly watchable, we have Brendan Fraser to thank.
