JakeAug 22, 2019"How old are you?" "A hundred." "A hundred? Come on! "Just takes a few month to get to be a hundred... if you're in the right place at the right time." (Falco Lulli as Luigi to Peter van Eyck as Bimba) "TENSION" WAS INVENTED FOR THIS HITCHCOCK LIKE INTENSE THRILLER…
Two CineastsAug 21, 2023Howard Hawks' Only Angels Have Wings and John Huston's The Treasure of Sierra Madre grimly merged together in what is now considered one of the greatest pure white-knuckle procedural thriller situations ever conceived of due two equally masterful takes on Arnaud's…

I went into the screening of wages of fear without a clue as to the subject matter; knowing only that it was a classic, it was well regarded, and it was two and a half hours long. Because of its girth, it was an unusual choice for a Thursday evening with the neighbours. …
Jonathan WhiteJan 15, 2020Henri-Georges Clouzot’s The Wages of Fear is an exceptionally gripping thriller about the corrupting consequences of capitalism, faintly camouflaged as an adventure movie. It’s based on a novel by Georges Arnaud and placed Clouzot on the international stage after it won the…
Paul ElliottJan 22, 2025This movie is amazing. Would you like for me extrapolate more? Was it the character development/involvement or the stakes that they were willing to endure to escape this desolate environment at any cost. Maybe it was the social climate of a capitalist society that…

Tim FehrenbachNov 3, 2012The Wages Of Fear is a film that doesn't really seem to fit in with its time. It also doesn't seem to fit easily into any category relating to its origin. Furthermore, it's still quite unlike many films that have ever been made. Here, you have a mid-1950s French-Italian…

I'm sorry Bong Joon-ho I didn't love this 😔. And I'd say it was better than your Dunkirk Nolan Liked the second act more as it felt like an exciting reward comapred to the first. I gotta say though, as unsatisfying the end was, I found it necessary. Made me respect it more.
Pretty good first half, great second half with some very good stressful moments, strangely funny yet tragic with some good performances from the main four
