Moviegoers are saying
The Unholy Trinity delivers a serviceable but forgettable western that coasts on the star power of Pierce Brosnan and Samuel L. Jackson without quite capitalizing on their potential. While reviewers consistently praise Jackson's unhinged energy and the film's stunning cinematography, most describe it as the kind of middling western that dads will stumble into on a lazy afternoon and find perfectly watchable despite its predictable plot and weak writing.

I LOVE A GOOD WESTERN! But The Unholy Trinity is not a good western. It's also not entirely bad. Pierce Brosnan and Samuel L. Jackson aren't phoning it in and there are some decent shootouts. Unfortunately it's badly written. The plot is an unfocused, overstuffed, all…

There’s a tiny bit of fun here in the beginning, but how this ended up so convoluted is baffling to me with such a simple premise. Not a great lead either. It’s always cool to see Pierce Brosnan and Samuel L Jackson does his best but this was mostly a dud

The Unholy Trinity is a middling film that never quite comes together, but it’s not entirely without merit. It’s uneven and often feels hollow, with a predictable plot that rarely surprises. The writing is especially weak—dialogue ranges from flat to outright clunky, and…

While the other movies releasing this weekend may be more appealing, there's still something enjoyable here. Brosnan is great. Jackson is unhinged. Lessard proves to be an effective leading man. Not a bad time here. Better than I anticipated. Full Review 2025 Movie Ranking

A church is a place of divinity, But gold might be in the vicinity. So maybe a Saint, May act rather quaint, And form an Unholy Trinity.

A dog limps into a bar and sits down. The bartender sidles up and asks what he wants. "I'm lookin' for the man who shot my paw". Yeah, it's a bog standard Western with a core duo of great actors that might convince you this is gonna be a good movie. A young man travels to…

Not good. Story very flat, characters flat. And the ending makes no sense

It is a bad film. Great supporting actors. Must be where the budget went. The main character is terrible. Second half. Is great but again just bad directing, accents and characters

They’re all trying to make a meal out of starvation rations. The cast’s efforts aren’t in vain, and the film is better for having them, but a thing can get a whole lot of 'better' before it gets 'good.

While The Unholy Trinity allows its stars to shine, the cookie-cutter story drags this movie down enough that it's difficult to recommend.

Going way, way back, at least to The Great Train Robbery in 1903, the western remains one of cinema’s oldest genres — and certainly the one where it feels like everything’s already been done. It’s therefore all-the-more disappointing when a brand new western, like Richard Gray’s gunslinging geezer flick The Unholy Trinity, brings nothing original to the table, rehashing movies we’ve seen before and doing it in a way that feels altogether generic.
