Been meaning to watch this film for a while now and I’m glad I did. I was intrigued throughout the whole thing and I did enjoy it. The casting was great and so was the acting. Pacing was excellent and I love the overall theme and creatives used. Would recommend: 8.2/10

If you ever need a wake up call or a reminder that America is not perfect and has done terrible things, then watch this movie. Great acting and stunning cinematography that includes recreations and footage from the events in question.

The actor playing the judge got the message across very well and the acting throughout the film was pretty stellar. Also really interesting to see a lot of law stuff I had learned about in undergraduate.

8/10 i love how they structured this to be documentary adjacent. i’ve personally done school projects and essays on this and from what i know i also love how they do accurately portrayed the 7 and the events that stood out without dragging it on beyond what’s necessary

The performances are amazing across the board, with Rylance, Redmayne, Baron Cohen, and Abdul-Mateen being the standouts. Just a fantastic retelling of history.

Certain events are rearranged from the factual timelines, and yes, The Trial of the Chicago 7 exercises poetic license. This is not a documentary; it’s a dramatization of events that resonates with great power while containing essential truths, and it’s one of the best movies of the year.

He [Sorkin] can also become fantastically ponderous, bloated with finger-waggingly self-important liberal patriotism. Sadly, that is the tone with this exasperatingly dull, dramatically inert and faintly misjudged re-creation of the “Chicago Seven” trial in the US, which Sorkin has written and directed.
