The opening twenty minutes of the film seem to promise a stylish, smartly constructed thriller, filled with suavely dressed guys in suits slickly out manoeuvring the law. Of course Steve McQueen is the smoothest looking of them all, the playboy ring leader who plans it all…
Steven SheehanJun 14, 2021Stylish, but I found myself wondering most of the time “why am I here?” I love the cinematography, and the collages of shots, especially during the heist scene. It felt like it was pushing the envelope in terms of style, especially for the late 60s. As the movie when went…
Ethan ColburnApr 15, 2019"It's my funeral. You're just along for the ride." Attractive people, in fashionable clothing, doing very cool things, in a very stylish way. Also: split screens and chess flirting. C'mon.

Stylish, but silly! Love the square blocks and the way it paces the movie, but it feels like things take a real hit when Vicki is introduced (which I don’t fault fo Faye Dunaway as much as I do to them just using her to bolster Steve McQueen’s character and not doing…
demi adejuyigbeDec 24, 2024The most seductive game of chess ever! This is a classic, catch me if you can thriller. Steve McQueen emboding his usual heavy levels of charisma and charm. Faye Dunaway hot of the success of Bonnie and Clyde, she’s a perfect match for McQueen in this. Yaphet Kotto is in…
Dale RangerMar 27, 2021Movie about a woman who’s so good at her job every man around her has an emotional meltdown. Also sexy chess playing.
Jenna Ipcar - Jul 10, 2025
The horniest chess game of all time.
JesseApr 14, 2025I think on a rewatch I preferred this more I mean it’s still got its problems mainly in the script department but it still functions as a fun 60s ride. It’s an effortlessly stylish film ranging from the cool split shots and the visuals which constantly look unique and…
SamOct 12, 2014I started The Thomas Crown Affair expecting very little. I didn't really know too much about it, except that it starred Steve McQueen (who I'd never seen in a film) and Faye Dunaway (who I enjoy). From the very first few moments of the film, all hopes of a good experience…

I liked how the robbery was pulled off, however overall this movie disappointed me. First, the crime was only in the first 10-15 minutes of the film. And the rest of it was a love story, which didn't really made sense because the woman was the one who tried to catch the man.
Fun crime thriller, really takes off once Dunaway joins and their chemistry is great, good story overall with an interesting ending
