Damien dislikedThe RentalSo the premise is good. The end end is good. But the climax was so bad. I mean some spoilers. . . . . You have this whole incident you expect and it happens. Instead of psychological warfare and putting them against each other you just bludgeon them. No panache. No showmanship.
Lawsy dislikedThe RentalThe main plots have no connection to one another and never get resolved. The killer is irrelevant and has no real motive or ties to the main characters—you never even see their face. There’s nothing to think about or chew on after the movie ends, nor is it a campy slasher. 2/10

It’s alright they could’ve done more the idea was definitely interesting but the execution was just meh and we know nothing about the killer what’s his motive who is he? I will say I did enjoy the drama part but it honestly didn’t need a killer. It could have been athriller only.

The ending was so unsatisfying and it felt like it was trying too hard. Jeremy like always was great 4.5/10

The Rental boats a strong cast, an intriguing set up, and a compelling mystery. It's a fun and feisty web of lies and deception with the added bonus of having a shadowy, stalking presence surrounding everything and everyone like a God-hand. It's a small film, but it's tense, dense, and delivers a harrowing final act.

A solid entry in the real estate horror genre and an impressively taut feature directing debut for actor Dave Franco. Relying far more on psychology than bloodletting, the movie nevertheless exudes a growing sense of dread that’s difficult to shake.

Even in spite of its obvious nowness, this thing is such a lean, mean, and utterly merciless old school programmer that it might seem anachronistic if not for the fact that it’s being released onto many of the same drive-in screens that would have shown it 35 years ago.
