  • When I saw the dedication to Rod Lurie's son I thought "there's no way the son of a Hollywood director died fighting in Afghanistan" and sure enough it was a musical festival.

POV you’re living in the worst placed outpost in Afghanistan that gets infiltrated by a large number of taliban days before your exfil back to the states. BRUTAL.

Putting a base at the bottom of an enemy valley doesn’t seem like a smart idea but then again, military intelligence is a contradictory term.

👍🏻70% 2020 list - Click HERE So I am genuinely as surprised as anyone reading this with my score. As I said last night in my review for 1917, I love War films (if they are well-made). I will admit that this movie is a bit sloppy at moments. The “style” of it feels a bit…

The Outpost is intense. The action is brutal, and the story is real. My bad for sleeping on this film for so long.  The climatic battle is straight up chaos. You don’t realize sometimes you have to fight without your combat gear or the desperate need for ammunition. Also,…

“this time my sources are telling me that the Talibans are coming on us” “how many are gonna come on us?” I feel like with this film it perfectly captures the brotherhood and camaraderie of the soilders and all the lil banter. It also has its fair share of intense and…

The Outpost manages to be both harrowing and less than completely involving, a movie that can be admired for its visceral portrayal of war while leaving the characters underdeveloped.

For those who appreciate the genre, this is a better-than-average merging of technical craftsmanship, narrative coherence, and competent acting.

Another guns and glory war movie about young American soldiers having to shoot their way out of some rats nest they should never have been sent to in the first place, Rod Lurie’s The Outpost is a familiar but uncommonly visceral reminder of what it really means to “support the troops.”
