Brian Henson later offered the role to Michael Caine, who replied: "I'm going to play this movie like I'm working with the Royal Shakespeare Company. I will never wink, I will never do anything Muppety. I am going to play Scrooge as if it is an utterly dramatic role and…
Les_VampiresDec 9, 2020The image of the little bunny muppet sad and cold wrapped in newspaper is more devastating than anything ever put to film. 4/5 Marleys
MovieBoyDec 25, 2021“Thank you for making me part of this.” I don’t think we talk enough about how absolutely masterful the Muppet films are from a production standpoint! Like they’re brilliant comedic works, but they’re also true magical works, mixing camera tricks and production design and…

I'm tired of these stupid debates over whether this is a Halloween or Christmas movie! It is a HALLOWEEN movie! There are GHOSTS! A little boy DIES! The Christmas future muppet is SCARY! If you think it's a Christmas movie you're LYING! Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!!
James (Schaffrillas)Dec 25, 2020is this the single most affecting performance of michael caine’s entire career? given that i cry every time he gets the scarf from beaker, i think so.

Hank Leet lovedThe Muppet Christmas CarolMichael Caine: "I'm going to play this movie like I'm working with the Royal Shakespeare Company. I will never wink, I will never do anything Muppety. I am going to play Scrooge as if it is an utterly dramatic role, and there are no puppets around me." That’s why it’s great 👍🏻

Love the muppets mainly for the charming aesthetics, but also the dynamics & humor (sometimes meta in a cute way) that comes along with it. Scrooge is played very well even though it might miss the core emotional tissue it hits all the main beats of a sweet classic story. A…

KingVonSchweetz likedThe Muppet Christmas CarolWhat a wild experience this was. Whoever thought of the idea to make a classic in Muppet form deserves several awards. This was so well done and so entertaining. Quote: God Bless us, Everyone. Character: Tiny Tim Moment: Statler and Waldorf being the Marley’s Rating: 8/10
Hardcore Epic Fanboy-Stan-Worshiper likedThe Muppet Christmas CarolA really good and charming adaptation of the classic story. Sometimes it drags and the songs aren’t anything special, but the whole thing puts such a big smile on your face that you can’t bother to care. It’s delightful and charming and fun. A wonderful film for the holidays.

As Scrooge, Michael Caine rises to the challenge and helps find the pathos beneath the puppetry.

Will kids like the movie? The kids around me in the theater seemed to, although more for the Muppets than for the cautionary tale of Scrooge.

Vastly enjoyable despite the syrupy, soppy song bit in the middle (go make a glass of mulled wine during it). Michael Caine is perfect in the role and there are many genuine belly laughs.
