Synopsis
“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.

My god, what a masterpiece. The CGI (esp the lighting) is a spectacle to behold. Halle was meant to play this role and she does it effortlessly. Any changes/additions added value to an already beloved screenplay. Disney’s best live action hands down.

8.2 - Congrats, Disney finally did it! The best live action remake yet, & even the slightest bit better than the original. I could go on & on with each change & why I liked it, but the best part is that each change was well reasoned & fluid, & the movie was still bright & fun.

i hated it. The effects were bad the added songs were REALLY BAD, the acting was good though but i just hated how they changed my fav princess. NO HATE TO THE ACTRESS OR ANYTHING Disney just needs to stop remaking and start making bc this in no way compares to the original

Ariel is very cute, it’s visually appealing, original songs are great. Some changes felt unnecessary or didn’t completely make sense and the three songs they added are a big no. 😬

Such a great retelling! The film is stunning on the big screen, Halle Bailey truly triumphed as Ariel!! Stand out performances: Ariel, Sebastian, Scuttle, King Triton! I loved the expansion on characters especially the Ariel’s sisters and Prince Eric!
