Synopsis
Director Jon Favreau worked CGI magic with his reimagined version of The Jungle Book and now he applies the same lifelike animation to Disney’s animated classic The Lion King. The revered story is intact, with a few new touches. Donald Glover voices Simba, the crown prince of the Pride Lands whose father Mufasa (James Earl Jones, reprising his original role) is murdered by his treacherous brother Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor).
The cast also features Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala; Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as the meerkat and warthog duo Timon and Pumbaa; and Florence Kasumba, Keegan-Michael Key, and Eric Andre as Scar’s sneering hyaena henchmen Shenzi, Kamari, and Azizi. With Amy Sedaris voicing a new character, an elephant shrew, The Lion King promises surprises and an affirmation of the power of the Circle of Life.

this is going to sound extremely stupid but my big problem with this movie is that nobody has eyebrows and i truly believe the movie would be fine if everybody just had eyebrows
demi adejuyigbeJul 19, 2019simba seeing scary hyenas: 😐 simba nearly perishing at the hands of said scary hyenas: 😐 simba looking at his beloved father’s dead body: 😐 simba seeing his best friend nala after years of separation: 😐
ellaJul 11, 2019Unfolding like the world’s longest and least convincing deepfake, Jon Favreau’s (almost) photorealistic remake of “The Lion King” is meant to represent the next step in Disney’s circle of life, but this soulless chimera of a film comes off as little more than a glorified…

that sure was a lot of lions
David SimsJul 10, 2019Oh I hated how expressive the 1994 version is too. Thank you so much for taking care of that for me. I hate colors too. My full review.
Kyle AmatoOct 11, 2019Groundbreaking virtual technology and the budget of a small country hoarded and deployed by people whose imaginations quite literally run as deep as "what if we took some of the most expressive, stylish hand-drawn animation of all time and forced the boring limitations of…

yawning sleeping snoring REM-ing dreaming waking up to this garbage movie
Sure it’s beautiful but the acting and singing are very mediocre. This was definitely not a passion project for anyone
I remember watching this in cinema and being torn limb by limb by the vfx/sfx. The animalistic tendencies and percise behaviours...if a caveman saw this there's no doubt in my mind they'd fall into a life-threatening state of shock. It makes you question where we'll be in another 20 years, so I…

Most live actions either add something, or change something, or are identical to the Disney original. This one was too similar to have added anything, but different enough to simply irritate. The CGI was outstanding and worth watching once just for that.
Probably didn’t need to happen, but it did and the visuals could have been better ..
People talk a lot of smack about this live action and I feel like it’s actually very well done. There’s a lot of elements from the original, but it is not meant to be an carbon copy. It’s hard to do, but watch it without the first movie in mind, and give it its own chance.

I do like the cinematography in this movie but the animals just aren’t expressive, I get what they were trying to do but it didn’t really work. I’d say watch the original because it’s basically beat for beat the same thing. “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.
Turns out I can't settle for a Lion King without James Earl Jones (and for a more personal preference, one without the birdy boiler). The music is really good, of course not on Elton John level. Yet I have to admit Beyonce did a good job.

Beyoncé destroyed LION KING for me sadly.
DPDonelson PérezThey could have just used the original cast recordings for the voice and it would have been better
ALAmanda LimaMost of the scenes were straight from the cartoon and brought back great memories but also left me wanting to see the original. With such excellent visual effects, I thought the characters would show more emotion at key moments. Sorely missed Ed's character and wished the…

You guys got a whole Jamaican woman singing the circle of life in Africa 🤦🏾♂️ and it sounded like Beyoncé couldn’t read. I should’ve waited until amazon has it for rent. Waste of $43
DLDavid LoraEveryone except for Timon and Puumba seemed to not want to be in the movie. Scar!!!! Ugh. It felt as if a corpse was voicing the character. The voice actor for Simba as a cub wasn’t good his singing was terrible. What’s up with the hyenas. They were horrible. Where was…
