The performances are highlights in both Pattinson's and Defoe’s repertoire, the black and white photography is gorgeous, and the story of "Winslow" coming to terms with his tentacle fetish was truly powerful stuff.
RalphOct 17, 2019I’m so glad we finally got a live-action remake of the Spongebob episode where Spongebob and Squidward take the night shift at the Krusty Krab and confront the Hash-Slinging Slasher
stevieMay 19, 2019It was clear the moment both actors appeared on the screen that this was going to be something special. To put it simply, this is the result of everyone behind the film being on the same page and doing their absolute best. It’s not something where I can pick my favorite…

This one is not an easy go. It is NOT a horror film. It is a psycho-sexual character study. . Dafoe and Pattinson are both amazing. The look of the film is like visual poetry. This is an art film surrounding a spiral of madness.
If you're a big fan of Marvel/Disney/DC movies, don't see this.
Metacritic
The Lighthouse stands as a monument to two titanic performances. Pattinson’s easy naturalism curdles into something unnerving and evil here, while Dafoe goes full German Expressionist villain with the biggest screen performance since Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood.
The Lighthouse is a ferocious battle of wills, a tour de force of cold, clammy suspense and a protracted descent into cabin-fever madness. It is also a gorgeous piece of film craft, a chance to savor the visual glories of a bygone era of cinematic artisanship.
