There is a scene in this movie where a man fully engulfed in flames from head to toe is ripped apart by shotgun blasts. Absolute masterclass. Why don't they make movies like this anymore? Beautiful squibs for every bullet hit, gratuitous nudity, a black guy and a white guy,…

KarstenApr 5, 2021one of the most vile and idiotic american blockbusters. superbly shot and edited into a pop-art dreamscape by tony scott. a reprehensible fluke of a film; essential scumbag-core.

Honestly this rocks. Great action, snappy Shane Black repartee, Bruce Willis at the peak of his powers, powerful "dudes rock" chemistry between the leads, and incredible cinematography that nobody even noticed at the time!!! Nowadays, all a butt-ugly, affectless digital…
Will SloanSep 27, 2026Dare I say the quippiest, hangdog Bruce has ever been? God Bless you Mr. Scott, we used to make movies in this county. Maybe the craziest opening scene ever 😭, I wish Chubba Hubbard played strapped too. Yes, sports gambling did take over the world!

tony scott's world is the ambient heat rising from rain-slicked pavement, where everyone has a slight sheen of sweat that flicks off their brows while they empty their grimy revolvers into a smug dirtbag, a world with flowing white drapes cascading into messy smoke-filled…
comrade_yuiNov 6, 2025Unfortunately, some over-the-top explosions and quippy Bruce Willis one-liners, were not enough to distract me from the fact that this was a cheesy, messy, poorly constructed affair of surprisingly dull proportions. Watchable? Yes. Enjoyable? not for me. #45 entry of the…
MrPPeepsDec 21, 2020Not every horrible production yields a horrible film. Profane pop poetry at its sleaziest but I enjoy every bombastic, haze-filled moment of it. Weirdly lacking Christmas references. Come on, Shane. Would love to read the original script.

Some absolutely iconic scenes. The closet scene and puppet scene especially. The dialogue and one liners were absolutely perfect even when corny. Characters were great, the daughter was terrible in the best way. Don’t usually like Bruce Willis but he’s amazing in this
Mickerdoo lovedThe Last Boy ScoutFarfetched with so much terrible gotcha dialogue that it’s almost poetic. People dropping like flies, explosions, a puppet and strippers.
Lawndawn lovedThe Last Boy ScoutI did not expect to like this as much as I did. Highly quotable and deadpan hilarious. The plot is a little hard to understand during it, but by the end it all makes sense. A prime example of early Neo-Noir. Willis was one of the best.

Pretty good Bruce Willis action film. Action is great, Willis is charismatic as hell as always and the side-characters are lively. Some very iconic scenes and I like the ending, it provides a lot of closure
Finbar O'Mahony likedThe Last Boy ScoutIf memory serves there is a ridiculous amount of swearing in this

The Last Boy Scout is a superb example of what it is: a glossy, skillful, cynical, smart, utterly corrupt and vilely misogynistic action thriller. To give it a negative review would be dishonest, because it is such a skillful and well-crafted movie.

Mr. Scott directs the film as if he were trying to win a prize for demolishing a building in record time. The opening is good: stylish video images of a night football game played in a torrential rain, climaxed by the only scene in the film that has legitimate shock. After that, the brutality and the pace don't slacken, but interest does.
