Synopsis
Buying a home can be a nightmare, and hopefully you’ll never experience anything like the Russell family. Annie and Scott Russell (Meagan Good and Michael Ealy) think they’ve found their dream home in Napa, CA. Then the seller, Charlie (Dennis Quaid), demonstrates some seller’s remorse. He starts out by helping out unasked, and quickly infiltrates the family’s entire life.
With stories of violence in Charlie’s background and questions about his sanity, the Russells are forced to protect themselves — but how can they defend against the determined intrusion of a man who knows more about their home than they do?

clemMay 5, 2019There was this old couple sitting next to us (first of all, they were 100% in the wrong seats because they were in seats that we purposely leave open and don’t sell) and they talked a lot through the movie. Every time the film’s antagonist, Charlie, showed up (which btw…

This film simply doesn't deserve Dennis Quaid's hilariously over the top performance.
Nicholas FaronJul 15, 2019whoa! genuinely surprised by this. pretty stock home invasion / domestic thriller trash elevated by daniel pearl—who between this and Mom and Dad has appeared to relocate some of the colorful, erratic expressiveness he popularized with Texas Chainsaw in the modern landscape…
Josh LewisAug 30, 2025Fiquei meio decepcionada. O filme é bem fraquinho, nada surpreende de verdade e, quando acabou, fiquei pensando em como teria sido muito mais interessante se a trama tivesse tomado outro rumo. Imagina se, em vez de tudo girar só em torno do que mostra durante o filme, no…

It’s the rare actor who can make playing a character this messy look so effortless.

More silly than scary. This doesn’t seem to be entirely intentional, and it isn’t altogether unwelcome.

The Intruder isn’t bringing much that’s new to the table but what it does, it does well, and there’s something to admire about its stark efficiency, dragging us along with full force, even if we know exactly where we’re going.
