Let's face it; The Hole is kiddie horror, but it's GOOD kiddie horror. Many moments are just downright scary, and while a message gets in the way of going into REALLY dark territory near the end; it's forgivable considering the target audience. It isn't classic Joe…

13 year old me watched this movie and spent too much time trying to figure out how i could make a relationship with haley bennett work out since we had the same first name. i wasn't even considering the fact that i was a child and she's 11 years older than me. then i…

I have never searched so much for a film in my life as I did for this one here, not only because it takes me back to a particularly very happy time for me, more than fifteen years ago, in which the simple became extraordinary through a mere film location, but also because,…

Action! – Three Auteurs: Dante’s Zany Inferno Though he’s no stranger to horror, The Hole sees Joe Dante diving deep into the genre while still delivering on the dark humor he has built throughout his career by now, with many of the scary moments playing in such an…

"watch it Scott...it isn't just a kids film" Yes it really is. Though it is a good story. Plus the teenage girls in bikinis make you feel like an old perv... If I were 12 I would be terrified and have an erection. But I am 34 and am not terrified.

Douchey late-2000’s teens are much harder to tolerate than all other teens that came before them…even late 90’s frosted tip and Oakley douches. Not really sure why that is…I think the Bieber hair is a big part of the problem. The best way to try to enjoy The Hole is to…

Like earlier Dante classics The Gremlins and The Burbs, The Hole marries the fantastical, the horrific, and the mundane, but in this case, the fantastical isn’t that fantastic, the horrific isn’t scary, and the mundane is way too mundane. All the elements are here, they just don’t add up to a satisfying whole.
