Well done !! Does not disappoint! Kept me for the full time and was true to Tartt’s book!!
a few issues, but overall a great movie. great casting and acting.
Overall a decent film, good plot, some unrealistic situations, but good acting, especially by Nicole Kidman.
It wasn’t the best movie I’ve ever seen, however I did enjoy it a lot.
Was a bit slow but kept me interested the entire time. I find myself still thinking about hours later. We enjoyed seeing it in the luxury theater with the recliner seats because the film was quite long!
Good movie. Great pacing for story to tell. Can't rush a storyline for those who complain about the pace. Not slow, not forced. Definitely makes me want to listen to some New Order afterwards.
Metacritic
The Goldfinch, the novel, was a testament to the power of The Goldfinch, the painting – but The Goldfinch, the movie, can’t be more than a footnote to the mysteries and the grace of the works that inspired it.
The movie, even at two-and-a-half hours long, can’t fit in as much as does the 800-page novel, forcing director John Crowley and screenwriter Peter Straughan to pare down a bit on details, characters, and plot.
If Tartt’s book is about grief and the sudden trauma that can derail a life’s trajectory, Crowley’s film feels like it doesn’t understand either of those things at all, merely using them as exploitative decoration on a beautiful but shockingly hollow experience.
