Synopsis

THE FLOATERS follows struggling musician Nomi who accepts a last-resort job from her overachiever best friend Mara: mentoring misfit campers, the "Floaters," at their childhood Jewish summer camp.
Moviegoers are saying
Reviewers split on THE FLOATERS, a Jewish summer camp comedy that many find authentic and affectionate, even as others see it as a School of Rock knockoff with too many ideas. Jackie Tohn and Aya Cash get consistent praise, and the young cast wins over most viewers, but the convoluted script and jokes that 'fell flat' keep the ratings low. One camp veteran called it 'damned entertaining' despite not reinventing the wheel.

JEWISH SUMMER CAMP OF ROCK, which sounds made in a lab for me, but this isn’t very good

You wouldn't know it, but for quite a long time, Jews had a reputation for being funny. Weird seeing this a few days after School of Rock, from which this film borrows liberally. A truly Jewish summer camp isn't a bad setting for a film, but this film has too many ideas…

As an unabashed camp kid, THE FLOATERS was very well met. Entirely authentic in its depiction of the camp experience, even though I am not Jewish nor have I ever attended a Jewish summer camp. Jackie Tohn crushing it as always. Incredible supporting cast: Aya Cash, Steve…

Always surprises me watching such derivative, uninspired, predictable, eye-roll worthy films in 2026. I guess it’s because, without even realizing, I have some very naive notion in my mind that human progress is linear, and that through time we become impervious to the…
