just an absolutely heartbreaking film from beginning to end. belongs in a very small group of movies that i don’t think i could bring myself to watch again. i really don’t know what else there is to say? anthony hopkins deserves the world.
KarstenMar 26, 2021No really just put me out of my misery if this happens.
matt lynchMar 28, 2021florian zeller really said i'm gonna cast the best actors and make them give their best performances until the viewers cry into their stupid little movie snacks

Had to do the biggest double take of my life when the film opened with a harpsichord score over Olivia Colman walking and the credit “edited by Yorgos Lamprinos” popped up
Taylor WilliamsApr 25, 2021merely existing past the age of 50 is getting less and less appealing

This movie ripped the heart from my chest and stomped on it. Ingenious use of film structure to put the viewer into the mind of an elderly man suffering from alzheimers. Anthony Hopkins is incredible.
elvisthealienApr 25, 2021What I Expected: a heartrending but quirky British movie about dealing with a loved one suffering from dementia. What I Found: One of the most unbearably tense and frightening films I've ever seen about *having* dementia. Really reminded me of Polanski's The Tenant,…

The role that upset Chadwick Boseman at the Oscars. Hopkins absolutely deserved his 2nd Best Actor win in what is perhaps the greatest portrayal of dementia ever put to film. Non-linear story telling with a heart wrenching ending like no other. Don’t skip this one!
8/10 - Heartbreaking film that highlights the reality of Alzheimer’s disease. This film was unbelievably sad in more ways than one, especially at the final act. Anthony Hopkins was absolutely brilliant in this film, as was Olivia Colman, two incredible actors. Truly devastating.

The Father is an overwhelmingly devastating depiction of the painfully progressive disease that is dementia. Anthony Hopkins delivers an award-worthy, powerfully compelling performance. TW: do not watch it if you are unprepared to be completely gutted and devastated.
great sequence and great performances, the story is not my cup of tea, i couldn't say that it is one of my favorites, but i think that is part of the film, it invites you to reflect whether u liked it or not 10/10

I feel so sad for both of them. Obviously, anyone who suffers from dementia is going through a terrible time. You feel like you can't trust anyone around you - not even your own mind. They don't want to be like that, and they're scared, not knowing what's going on. Every time Anthony cried I felt…
A heavy hitter, indeed. Anthony Hopkins is absolutely unreal in it. The confusion, fear, sudden sharpness, then slipping again… it’s brutal in the quietest way. A very well earned Oscar. The structure of the film is playing with the audience too, in the most respectful manner. 👌🏼

You felt like you were the characters in the movie - experiencing everything feeling and emotion they experienced. Truly and excellent film and acting.
ZCZach CaronnaAn uncomfortable topic told uncomfortably; not everyone’s cup of tea, but definitely one of the best movies of the year helmed by two incredible performances
