KYKJun 2, 2021Pride Month Challenge - Film 2: A film nominated for Best Picture with a queer character The first half-hour of this film is such a tense, powerful and interesting experience. It expertly balanced a well-established tone, snappy yet natural dialogue, and creative…
SamAug 27, 2022The Crying Game is a compelling thriller with moments of intense violence; however, the picture really succeeds when it showcases its wonderfully tender performances, ropey English accent aside. It’s a shame Neil Jordan’s direction lacks a certain panache, with the film…

Imagine if the cultural legacy of this movie was insert dream-logic shots of Forest Whitaker throwing a cricket ball when the protagonist climaxes!

Written and directed by Neil Jordan, The Crying Game contains some excellent performances together with a storytelling momentum that carves itself into a satisfying experience. It disputes the mainstream validity of sexual stereotypes and examines the subject matters of…
Paul ElliottMar 12, 2026I didn't really know what I was getting into when watching this, and even after watching, I'm more bewildered than anything, but it's certainly a unique time, to be honest. It's a gripping Irish thriller, which is certainly pretty unconventional in its approach as it mixes…

Other than its twist revealed to me a long time ago I knew absolutely nothing about this film and I have to say it was very strange. Perhaps I just didn’t get it, but I didn’t really enjoy this at all. Now I can say I’ve finally seen it, but I will never see it again.
Really liked the main character Fergus a lot. Somewhat of a tragic plot with even more tragic characters, this film has very well written dialogue and beautiful acting. Not a crazy ride of a story but definite twists and turns.

A masterfully done, early 90’s film that showcased an incredible early Forrest Whittaker. It was nominated for so many awards, and won for best screenplay, for a reason.
I was not sure what to expect with this movie but I was stunned at how well it was done.
