I’m calling this film February because the Blackcoat’s Daughter is just a silly title. I’ve said so many times before and I’m pretty sure you’ll agree, comedy and horror are probably the two most divisive genres we have. What makes you laugh or what scares you is such a…

Leticia FernandesSep 29, 2021There's an actress in this who sort of looks like Emma Roberts. It's not uncanny but it's enough that I was able to convince myself it was her and I just wasn't as familiar with what Emma Roberts looks like as I thought I was. So then when actual Emma Roberts showed up I…

MurielJul 12, 2024It’s like The Holdovers, but very scary to watch.
Kyler The Film Unicorn 🦄Aug 1, 2018The first time I watched this, I rated it 4 stars but naw...this is a 5 star movie right here. It’s one of the greatest examples of genuine slow burn dread that I have ever seen and kids, it is terrifying. Both times I watched this I was completely alone (except for Oscar…

Slow-burn or just boring? I don’t know. It really just wasn’t for me. By the time anything happened, I was already checked out. I did love how dreary and depressing the whole thing looked though.
KyloJul 6, 2024Imagine being so lonely that a demon possession is the only way to feel needed and alive. Just cold. Very nice atmosphere as well.
rickyfonsecaFeb 25, 2026probably Osgood Perkins' best movie, but that's really not how faces work.

extremely creepy and atmospheric. the movie was confusing at times, i had to look up an explanation for some things which is unfortunate. every character had something off-putting about them. i enjoyed it overall and would like to show it to others knowing what i know now.
It took about 45 minutes for anything remotely interesting to happen, and even then, it was boring. The idea was good, but it was badly executed. (5-15-25)

Really enjoyed this. More atmospheric and creepy than scary but a solid horror in my opinion. Can’t tell if the performances were stellar or terrible, because everything is very one-note. But I think it’s intentional? Regardless, shot very well and sufficiently unsettling.
consistently creepy with strong cinematography and sound design, the lead performances are great. as inventive as the narrative tends to be, it’s often confusing, and while the second half is incredibly engrossing, the opening sequences tend to drag. unique and interesting

it was good but boring it’s like a type of movie you’d watch just to waste time 😭 emma roberts was great in it though even if she only had like 15 minutes of screen time lmaooo
it’s a great horror film but it’s the sound design that really makes this movie stand out — chilling and unique only complaint i have is that it’s a tad confusing at times
