Synopsis
The world’s favorite blue hedgehog is back for a next-level adventure in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2. After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. From the filmmakers behind The Fast and the Furious and Deadpool, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 stars James Marsden, Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Lee Majdoub and Jim Carrey returning, alongside new additions Shemar Moore, with Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails.

i took a girl to this movie’s premiere and she leaned over 30 minutes in to ask “wait is he a hedgehog??”

realvatic lovedSonic the Hedgehog 2loved how funny and entertaining this movie was, especially seeing how goofy Jim Carey was, he truly is an amazing fit for the character hope he comes back for more.
Clay Werner is "meh" onSonic the Hedgehog 26.3 - a hair (quill?) better than the first, mostly because my kiddos said it was better. It’s WAY too long and there’s a few too many subplots, but I appreciate the referential humor (esp to other Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz roles) and Carrey crushes his ridiculous role.

Charmingly referencing several videogames in the series, while also delivering on laughs, and a wholesome story, here is a kids movie that is everything I expected in the best possible and predictable way.

JEJoe EatonThis was bad…real bad. It was like a bunch of CGI people got together and said, “Hey, what cool things we could do with CGI? We’ll figure out a story later”. The end fight wasn’t bad, but the rest left me wishing I hadn’t gone.

It’s truly impressive that Fowler has found a way to integrate the wild world and characters of the Sonic the Hedgehog games into the real world in a way that actually works, but it’s a shame that it comes at the expense of the story of friendship that made the first Sonic the Hedgehog film so charming.
