Moviegoers are saying
This latest Smurfs installment has divided audiences into two distinct camps: parents enduring it for their kids and nostalgic adults hoping for childhood magic. While Rihanna's vocal performance and updated visuals earn praise, the film struggles with a confusing plot, inappropriate adult humor mixed with juvenile content, and what many consider lazy animation compared to previous entries.

Can we just bury Smurf's movies? They stopped feeling genuine the more they pumped out.
zxki is "meh" onSmurfsSo 'smurfing' close, but then they hired James Corden. Half of the casting made no sense to me. I tried so hard to get into it, but the voice 'acting' kept pulling me out. As for the animation, I liked it. The experimentation was fun, although something about it all feels half-finished. The songs…
Cinematic Joshua is "meh" onSmurfsA cute Animated odyssey with a smurfload of flat jokes and slim characters, but conjures some magic for kids.

I will genuinely kill myself
Jen likedSmurfsIt’s a cute movie that has a good story to it, but it is a little slow at times and with so many well-known voices. It’s hard to stay in the mind frame of the Smurfs and not think about the actors speaking. I also enjoyed the new Rihanna song.
Miepington is "meh" onSmurfsI don’t really know, maybe enjoyable for kids. Disturbing dance scenes at beginning and end but some glimpses of coolness with anime style and other different animation styles in different dimensions.

Very hard to follow plot line, random scenes that didn't make sense, too much adult humor for kids, and overall bad

The movie was family friendly, but there were crying babies and children talking throughout the entire movie. The movie itself was just okay, but maybe because I'm an adult. The Smurfs were much more interesting when I watched growing up and the previous movies were better.
SRSheree RandleThe cursing scene at the end could have been edited out. Above all, great movie. It’s was fun to see a modernized version of the original Smurf movie.
BRBill Reitzok movie if you're 5 or 6 years old I guess

Who could have guessed that a simple Smurfs reboot would constitute such an unholy mess?

It’s refreshing to see children’s animation makers use surrealism, instead of winking pop-culture references, to charm adults.

It’s when the music stops and the movie is forced to contend with the mishmash of recycled elements it’s trying to use as a plot that it really flounders.
