Synopsis
Dwayne Johnson stars as Will Sawyer, a war veteran and former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader who now works as a “glorified security guard.” OK, so technically he assesses the security of skyscrapers, and his latest gig has him staying in China at the site of the tallest, most advanced building in the world (dubbed “The Pearl”). Will brings his family along to stay in the building with him during the assignment… which sort of becomes an issue when the skyscraper starts to go up in flames, trapping his wife and kids inside. Framed for the blaze, Will finds himself on the run with a family to rescue and perpetrators to track down. Skyscraper is a heart-pounding action-thriller written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. The film also features Neve Campbell, Chin Han, Noah Taylor, Roland Møller, Byron Mann, and Pablo Schreiber.

This movie deserved a much higher rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Action from beginning to end. It has Dwayne Johnson AND Neve Campbell.. what more could you want in an action thriller?!

The visuals were well done and the heights truly gave me goosebumps and the action was fun to watch. I’d say it was a pretty good movie. 8.6/10 for me

I thought Skyscraper was underrated actually. The Rock is always likeable and it’s Die Hard in a skyscraper but it’s really entertaining. It’s got incredible action scenes, it’s funny in parts and really fast paced. Really good entertainment

The movie was action packed from beginning to end. I can see some Die hard and mission impossible but it was good overall and The Rock makes it look effortless.

The building may be taller than The Towering Inferno and the stakes may be higher than those faced by John McClane in Die Hard, but in comparison to both, Skyscraper is little more than a cinematic bungalow.

But for a guy with all these comedy credits, Thurber (and his by-the-numbers star) fail to give the spark of sarcastic life to this version of John “Die Hard” McClain. The script gives Will one half-funny aside, and a single funny line.
