Ben would have the most insufferable Letterboxd account
Vinny SimmsAug 15, 2023didn’t realize this was going to be a biopic about my ex (a self-centered bitterly cynical cinephile who worked at a movie theater and spent most nights ignoring me to watch his criterion collection)

This flew under everyone’s radar last year but it’s really sweet and funny Always need a movie where the main character is a prick every now and then Also yall check the director
FramesofnickJan 23, 2023I actually enjoyed that the lead character in Randall Park’s feature directorial debut SHORTCOMINGS is flawed & unlikable. It made for a better character study while avoiding cliches. Sherry Cola is the real standout though with brilliant comedic timing aided by a sharp…
Matt NegliaJan 30, 2023ben is the kind of guy who would mansplain each and every movie in the criterion collection to me while cosplaying as a jean luc godard character

the main character is absolutely insufferable but he gets better at the end so i understand 😭 besides that it was funny & i loved the cinematography !!
A fitting title for a movie featuring largely unlikable characters with a list of flaws so long that anyone would be driven nuts by it all. Sherry Cola is the best part of this movie along with a script that is so accurately written for characters like Ben and Miko. Solid film.

Very rarely do I turn a movie off without finishing it, but I couldn't make it to the end with this one. Great cast, but the writing was not good. Two dimensional, unlikable characters making incoherent decisions and having unrealistic, boring conversations. Not for me.
I feel like the less you’ve experienced people like these (inconsiderate, straight up weird, basically the major flaws represented here), the less you like the movie. It’s a good premise, some characters are absolutely insufferable, meaning perfectly executed.

A funny film about one (very flawed) man’s shortcomings. For a modern movie where the modern world is a prolific aspect of the story, it doesn’t feel out of touch like so many others do.
Main character was genuinely so GOD DAMN ANNOYING THE WHOLE MOVIE and I don’t think we even got to see him be a good person at all. Crazy cast tho
