ErikMay 31, 2020can't tell if this is really sexist or subtextually feminist but it's one of my childhood films so let's just say it's the latter

The sexual politics of this film are so outdated it almost feels like a satire and because of that I have no choice but to declare this a brilliant musical comedy. Joyous! All singing, all dancing! Such fun choreography. Feels like a candy-colored version of that one…

This movie is absolutely ridiculous from beginning to end, but I cannot help but watch it. I have loved it for years and frequently get the music stuck in my head. There is no way this movie would fly in today’s culture, but considering when it was made it is a masterpiece. 10/10
One of my all time favorites!!! The barn raising scene!!!

The audacity of the men in this movie. For Christ sake, women STAND UP. Um lying, kidnapping, and manipulation just sprinkled in LMAOO I mean I know this is a different time but good lord
A bit sexist and outdated at times in its dialogue and story, but this was still an interesting and good watch. The barn raising dance is one of the greatest dance sequences of all time.

I honestly love this musical… however it is the definition of Stockholm syndrome (that part definitely didn’t age well). Besides that it is a 10/10!
It’s been so long since I watched this movie and it’s literally so wild. Like they literally kidnap the girls. But I still love it it’s so good.
