An interesting and a bit novel premise about a couple of undercover cops trying to take down a drug trafficker just to find themselves becoming addicts. And that’s, of course, bad enough, but matter gets worse when the stuff the drug is actually the evidence. I am actually…
Rafael "Mister Movie" JovineJan 9, 2026Raynor (Jason Patric) has been undercover for months. He does drugs right out in the open, so no one believes he’s a cop. He actually believes a few nights on sweaty sheets can cure anyone of drug addiction (this is 70’s Texas). His new partner Kristen (Jennifer Jason…
David WhitmanMar 14, 2023I think she fix , or she don't walk outta' here. Jennifer Jason Leigh owns this movie! Good as Jason Patric is in his role as the undercover cop that's too far gone into drug addiction to find a way out, JJL just steals every scene she's in taking her performance to…

JJL, the absolute lordess.
Sean FennesseyJun 28, 2025I am so tired of watching mid movies bro 💔
mackenzie 🪖Aug 17, 2022Jennifer Jason Leigh is in top form in this early 90 gritty look at the fine line between acting as a drug addict and being one. For narcotic officers Kristen (JJL) and Jim (Jason Patric) occupational hazard is an understatement. Kristen is thrown into the drug world of a…

July Film Log “That's the whole game baby. Nobody's got control.“ A crime drama that showcases the devastating personal and moral toll of the drug war, addiction, systemic police corruption, and the loss of moral boundaries, Rush is for the most part, a hidden gem. I…

Ziglet_mirJul 18, 2022I seriously love how strung out and dark Rush gets, especially with regards to its two lead performances. First of all, Patric is on another level here, channeling the strung out and far gone nature of a drug addict phenomenally, all while having this quasi-Jim Morrison…

An above average cop film because of the directing and performances. While it’s a cop film it’s also apart of the drug genre and shows the problem with some of those films; it doesn’t show why addicts get hooked and continue staying addicted.

It rings true. Living in the twilight, between right, wrong, legal, illegal, good, bad, is dangerous but it's sheer hypocrisy to deny its attraction.

It is the first directing effort by Lili Zanuck, co-producer of Driving Miss Daisy, but feels like the work of a more experienced director, especially in the way she gives full measure to the many strong supporting performances in the film.
