Synopsis

    Unique and dreamlike but feels a bit too lost in its own style. The whole thing plays like a memory from start to finish and instead of being lost in the beauty I found myself waiting to wake up. George MacKay absolutely made it worthwhile though.

    Rose of Nevada

    Very strange and surreal. I went in expecting something light hearted but its more of a dark, hypnotic dream. Very similar to his other film Enys Men with the focus on nature and the questioning of whats real and whats not. It definitely gets you thinking.

Seen from the vantage point of our hyper-digital 2020s, Jenkin isn’t just a stark outlier from the current media regime. He’s also among the very few working directors whose cinema feels both familiar and viscerally new.
