Ejiofor’s second outing as a director may not be nearly as brilliant as his debut, but to its credit, unless you know the real-life story, it keeps you intrigued about where it is going. Midway through the film you can guess its direction, but for the most part it’s an…

Kevflix And ChillSep 15, 2024A standard hood film about a guy trying to get his father out of jail by selling drugs. The Yale part of the story was the most interesting, watching him balance the studies and drug dealing. His final moments with his father were quite sad. Overall, the performances were…

PJJan 22, 2024What a powerful way to start off my Sundance week. Rob Peace beautifully weaves a narrative that explores the intersection of systemic flaws, unwavering community loyalty, and an individual's profound passion for science. Jay Will and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s father-son…

I was bad tbh the ending was topical like what better is he if he had the same future as everyone else like i could have been so much better if he just did what he was supposed to in the first place and lets say he didn’t die then he would have ended up like his dad
Movie based on real facts, very beautiful in construction with a totally unexpected and sad ending - “There is a need to know how to deal with our future so as not to live other people’s lives”. 👍🏽

Rob is turned from stereotype to person, thanks to Will’s incredible work and Ejiofor’s unwavering commitment to capturing a full life, supported by Rob’s mother off screen. It’s an involving yet troubling tribute.
If there’s any takeaway from “Rob Peace” for the industry folks in the audience, it’s the leading-man power and charisma of Jay Will, who gives an overwhelmingly heart-open performance that makes you understand why everyone in his midst adored him, and how his life’s richness lent well to a best-selling biography.
It does not take much imagination to imagine a version of “Rob Peace” where, given the room to sit with events, Rob’s journey provides a damning X-ray of American society’s shortsightedness. But far too often, the film settles for simply conveying information through dramatization.
