Moviegoers are saying

This gritty Little Red Riding Hood reimagining divides audiences with its atmospheric Scottish setting and Victoria Tait's impressive debut performance, though many feel it loses steam as pacing issues and tonal inconsistencies derail what starts as a promising dark fairy tale. While the moody first act and generational trauma themes resonate, viewers consistently note the film becomes melodramatic and unfocused in its final stretch.

After a meandering middle section, this horror take on a classic tale really picks up steam into the fantastic finale. Most of the cast is serviceable in their roles, but the lead and the grandmother are standouts.

Stick with this through until the 2nd half of the film which abandons the premonition and dream nonsense we get early on and you will be rewarded with incest, child cruelty, sexual perversion and cannibalism so basically all the stuff we know the upper class get up to in…

A gritty fairy tale adaptation that starts strong but slowly loses its grip. I was actually pretty into this at first. The opening act feels grounded, moody, and genuinely intriguing. The shift from city to countryside, mixed with family secrets and that lurking wolf…

Red Riding, as its title suggests, is a loose (very loose) retelling of the Red Riding Hood story. It's also tangentially, possibly, maybe a werewolf film... but not really. Hints only... but not concrete enough, if you are into that horror subgenre. But it IS a horror…

“While we are shaped by our DNA, it doesn’t necessarily define us.” Red Riding immediately impresses thanks to Victoria Tait in her screen debut as Redelle Riding, get it? The movie wastes absolutely no time layering on the Little Red Riding Hood references either. We open…

Probably slaps if you think the problem with fairy tales is all the subtext.

Well that was a pretty nifty blind watch. I mean, it's no Freeway (what is?) but as far as loose, modern 'Little Red Riding Hood' adaptations go - not bad at all! Angry, rebellious Redele is left alone in the world after her mom OD's, goes to live with a rich grandma in…
