Did You Know?
- Sylvester Stallone originally stated that a fifth Rambo movie wasn't going to happen, as he planned on retiring the character.
- Gabrielle uses her phone while being underground in the tunnels constructed by Rambo. It is highly unlikely that she would get a signal down there.

- Rambo: I've lived in a world of death. I've watched people I've loved die. Some fast with a bullet, some not enough left to bury. All these years I've kept my secrets, but the time has come to face my past. And if they come looking for me, they will welcome death. I want revenge. I want them to know that death is coming. And there's nothing they can do to stop it.

If you enjoyed the other Rambo movies, you will enjoy this one, same format, Rambo tries to avoid bad guys, bad guys hurt good guys, Rambo has to make them pay. Violent and graphic, but you won't feel sorry for any of the bad guys and you may even cheer when Rambo even's things up. It pays tribute to the rest of the Rambo movies and symbolically Rambo takes a rocking chair on the porch at the end.
Lots of blood and guts, just like the other Rambo films. A few kills resembled Mortal Kombat, which I appreciated.
There’s a hint of a fugue state about it too, as if Rambo, and whatever audience for his movies remained, is trapped in an endless loop, savoring past traumas as a way to avoid facing the present.
What’s especially pitiful about this installment, which has been given a perfunctory dark-action look by cinematographer Brendan Galvin (“Self/less”), is how often Stallone tries to give psychic heft to the wounded-warrior part of his creation, as if he were Ethan Edwards in “The Searchers” and not just a monosyllabic killing machine easily triggered.
The character deserves better, and so does the audience.
