the outer layer is a bright candy coated shell, but peeling that back reveals the inside as hollow. i don’t have negative feelings about the ending (or the film as a whole) the way some do, actually i enjoyed it until it was almost over. but then the bad taste it left…

girlbossing sexual assault in this way is my joker moment and I'm not even kidding. had a very in depth conversation with friends after this so I don't feel like putting it into words here but this was very frustrating.

my only take is that Crazy Stupid Love would be an incredibly short movie if Ryan Gosling had encountered Carey Mulligan at the bar instead of Emma Stone

Promising Young Woman is a deliciously dark and wonderful combo of style, substance and artfully utilized pop jams.

Promising Young Woman is a dark tale of revenge, shot through with black comedy. At every turn, it’s almost too much. As is the performance by Carey Mulligan. Except that performance turns out to be just right. It’s a no-holds-barred wonder, easily one of the best of the year.
