Moviegoers are saying
Princess Mononoke divides audiences between those who see it as Miyazaki's masterpiece—a profound environmental epic with unmatched thematic depth—and others who find its grim violence unexpectedly brutal for a Ghibli film. Despite the mixed ratings, viewers consistently praise its stunning animation and complex mythology, though some are caught off-guard by the severed limbs and dark imagery that make this Miyazaki's most nihilistic work.

Jack Eldr lovedPrincess MononokeMY GOD EVERONE SHOULD WATCH THIS. This movie gives such a good perspectives on humans and life. it's not black and white, it's chaos on both sides. everyone just wants to survive and life and destroy the others while doing so. The end was perfect. I got this as my first tattoo.

Jordan lovedPrincess MononokeThis movie isn’t what I thought it would be. My friend told me she didn’t like it because of the blood and fighting so I was a bit skeptical. But I love it. It shows the complexity of life, how the world changes and everyone wants something. It’s similar to Pocahontas, but better
William Luckenbach lovedPrincess MononokeBreathtakingly animated and beautifully written, Princess Mononoke is one of Miyazakis finest films. Not only is it epic, but it’s story is resonant and heartfelt, making this a truly masterful work even in comparison to Miyazaki’s other films. 9/10
