Haven't felt this much tension during a dinner scene since Shrek 2 (2004)
James (Schaffrillas)Jul 13, 2021A tremendous and weird story of the tangle and mystery of loss.
matt lynchJul 13, 2021One of the quietest and most subtly beautiful “revenge” movies I think I’ve ever seen. Still kinda shaking from watching it. Go in knowing nothing. Cage needs his Oscar nom campaign NOW.

80 What Pig demonstrates is both a subversion of the revenge sub-genre and a deceptive layer of modern indie tropes. The first act is pure noxious set-up for our dismantled expectations in the remaining hour. Beginning as a blank slate for our preconceptions of what Rob…

A hefty order of longing served with a side of crime thrills, Pig is flavorful, fascinating and fancy, crafted by someone who knows how to create a dish that’s accessible yet undeniably gourmet in its complexity.

It’s my favorite Cage performance in some time, after overly bizarre turns in recent years as a murderous parent in Mom and Dad and an inmate on a mission in the Japanese film Prisoners of the Ghostland. When he goes back to basics, it’s as rich and juicy as a delicious ham steak.

Pig is a small film with a few big surprises executed very well, and well worth going into as blind as possible.
