ryan gosling: [has 4 lines the entire movie] me: now THIS is acting!
Lucy'Only God Forgives' is a bad movie disguised as a good one. This is a movie where I feel like your level of enjoyment depends entirely on how you approach it. Some people go into it wanting a surreal visual experience, others want a compelling story, others want cool…
KarstenAug 4, 2018Obviously the colors were cool and it was shot really nice but I sadly didn’t care about a single thing going on in the story or any of the characters. Always nice to look at Ryan Gosling though, and the poster is so sick.

Only God Forgives is a painting. Paintings don't move. Paintings don't talk. Paintings exhibit colours. Red. Pink. Blue. Gold. Yellow. Refn used warm colours to create serenity, then used serenity to contrast violence; soothing music to contrast gore. Refn doesn't just…

caitlinJul 21, 2013I liked this even more on a second viewing. The suffocating symmetry. The verging-on-comic portent. The flattened-out humid-hot glow of color so saturated it nearly bleeds. Exultant in such clinical and grisly violence. These things to me are features, not bugs, and the…

84/100 Aching, rustling NWR™ trash engulfed in pitch black spaces and sizzling neon. The viewer follows the story of Julien - his presence molded from silence, outspoken in violence - but Mai is the vivid, bleeding heart; daring to stare into the dismissive gaze of…

…… Felt like a low budget 80s movie? Ryan Gosling was just there???? Nice Lighting, Incredible slow and boring, like 5 words spoken in the 30m i watched? Watched because of gosling but even he can’t save this
damn, this film really sucked haha. the story was so weird and random it made no sense at all. the main reason i finished watching it was because of ryan gosling and the gorgeous color pallet. the only good thing i can say is, the cinematography was great. other than that, meh af

damn, this film was really just meh the story was random itthe main reason i finished watching it was because of ryan gosling ofc the goat and how insane the movie looked visually the cinematography was peak but it was just overall a meh movie and the ending??? what lol ILY ryan🐐
Very dark movie and what made this stand out than most other revenge films in the genre was that the person who the protagonist was seeing revenge for didn’t deserve it. Overall gorgeous cinematography and Ryan Gosling who plays as always a character who doesn’t talk much.

An awful movie dressed up like a good one. The script relies on the mood, too many things are left internalized but it appears like it’s good because of the visuals and direction. It also tries too hard to be cool. Ryan Gosling is the movie’s saving grace.
Intriguing story and outstanding visuals. Very unique story telling that won’t hit for every viewer but fans of Drive & Ryan Gosling will appreciate what this film is trying to do! Definitely worth a watch for the cinematography alone
