Synopsis
After being sold to the mortician Sowerberry, young orphan Oliver Twist runs away and meets a group of boys trained to be pickpockets by their elderly mentor Fagin in 1830s London in this musical based on Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist.

It’s very difficult to sit and judge Oliver now because the musicals in today’s society are beyond reach in terms of designs and autotune and digital effects. What Oliver is for its time for its relevance now is insane. If you like musicals it’s a must watch.
Meg likedOliver!Best Picture Oscar winner 1969 (41st Academy Awards) My Rating: 7/10 Nominated for 11 Oscar’s and won 6. This is a musical with kids singing and I remember liking it as a kid but not so much as an adult. It’s still good and I appreciate the artistry.

Oliver is one of the few musicals I’ve seen and it’s pretty great. Ron Moody steals the show as Fagin, with every songs he’s in being amazing. I will say that the songs overall can be hit or miss but the hits are fantastic. 7/10

Carol Reed's careful if passionless adaptation of the musical was mounted handsomely enough to win the best-picture Oscar back in 1969. In retrospect, it seems emblematic of the triviality Reed descended to in the last years of his career.
