Dave Bautista does one of those classic ‘stoic tough guy befriends chatty little girl’ movies that they made a lot in the 2000s😐👧. He also does some dorky dad dancing🕺& has a mini romcom with the girl’s mom💘. Adorable movie🥰. The haters are heartless💔.

Even Bautista and a genuinely cute kid co-star can’t enliven this predictable and humorless entry into a micro-genre long due for a refresher.

The slapstick generally works and the movie milks Bautista’s sheer size and roughness, compared with tiny Coleman’s crafty fearlessness. Much of the story is telegraphed, but it’s not about shocks or surprises. It’s a charming diversion stocked with people who are fun to watch.
